Noah's Baptism
Today, (Sunday - May 30) I had the privilege of baptising my nephew, Noah Morgan. (Noah is the adopted son from Russia, to my sister Teresa and her husband Tim.) It was such a joy to be asked to be a part of this special occasion, were God welcomes us by His grace, through the washing and renewal of the water and the Word.
Along with the baptism, I was asked to lead the service and preach the message for the day, which was Holy Trinity Sunday. Sparky even made an appearance! This all took place in my home congregation, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. It was quite surreal to preach in my home congregation with about 50 family members all there to celebrate the occasion. Many of the congregational members were just the same as they were 20 years ago, when I was last a member here. I remembered most faces, but not the names!
After the service, many of my expended family came together for a re-union dinner (also held at the church) to celebrate Noah’s baptism, and our visit back to Iowa. We had a lovely visit with them and were able to re-connect our family ties.
