"Hooray for Hollywood"
Today (Sunday) we had a relaxing morning spending time as a family in worship, and then after lunch we headed to Hollywood. We were hoping to get a shuttle bus, but there was no service. So...we ending up driving ourselves in our RV! Oh the joy of driving in LA traffic!! We made it, but it took almost 2 hours to drive 40 miles.
Once we got there we cruised down Sunset Blvd and Hollywood Blvd (would have been better in a convertable!). We then needed to find a car park for our 25 ft RV. That was not the easiest task in the world either. Most car parking areas were $20, plus we wouldn't have fit. We spotted a car leaving across the street in a free zone, so Anne jumped up to save the parking space while I tried to turn around. Meanwhile another car pulled up and tried to park there, but Anne wouldn't move and almost got ran over! The man got out of the car and had a confrontation with Anne, but she stood her ground and we got the car park! Anne the rebel!
We then walked down Hollywood Blvd and saw many of the stars with names on them. We ended up at Groumans' Chinese Theatre where many of the movie stars have there hands and feet imprints in cement. There were also many street actors dressed in costume for photo taking, but they wanted money. I tryed to get Christian's photo with the Pirates of the Carribean in the background, but the actor noticed and was ducking behind someone so that we could not get him in the shot.
Our time in Hollywood was an adventure and sort of stressful, but we enjoyed it. It was fun for Anne and I to see all the stars on the sidewalk of people we knew. (The kids didn't really know anyone.) I even found Annette Funichello's star for Terry Sawade!
We then headed back down the freeway to Aneheim and safely made it home again. We are grateful to not have to drive alot in LA!
