Bit more structured this time:
Day 1: Tienemen Square
- Crazy amount of security, police everywhere and your bags have to go through metal detectors. Lets be honest who's going to blow up a open piece of floor. Not much to blow up.
Day 2: Summer Palace
- Got a bit lost on the way so got to check out suburban China too. Average.
- Summer palace is massive and not really what I was expecting a palace to be. Its more of an extensive garden with chinese buildings dotted around in it. Really cool though but everything is so big you go there for a day and don't even see all of it.
Day 3: Forbidden City/ Hill Station
- Again massive (everything in China is) and it was very very rainy today so probably didn't see it at its best. But it was a pretty cool place and mental that it was forbidden from all public view for like 500 years.
We also walked to the top of this hill station thing and you could see practically the whole of Bejing. The only problem with taking photos of the city (you'll notice when i eventually put some on) SMOG. Ultimate Smog. Everything looks grey and misty.
We also got to see the pickled body of Chairman Mao. He was this leader dude that all Chinese people love. So they pickled him. He dead. It was a bit odd queing up to see a pickled dead body.
Favourite things in China:
- Metro (winner - 20p to cross the whole of Bejing which is a long way)
- Teeny tiny birds (its not just the Chinese people that are small)
- Food (apart from the slimy jelly noodles we had today, not a fan - texture of an uncooked jellyfish)
