Well Penang turned out to be a little more eventful than imagined. The first day we spent visiting a Buddhist temple which was all round a good day. Got the local bus there and it turned out fine so we decided to go on a little local bus adventure the next day. We decided to go to a national park the other side of the island... took about 3 hours on two separate buses and in the end the bus driver was like "No dont go there its s*** go here instead" ......

Ok so after I'd taken a few too many trips to the toilet on Christmas day and Boxing day.. we spent another day or so in Luang Prabang recovering and visiting temples. I had to recover before the dreaded 11 hours of windey roads back to Vientiene! Somebody was sick in the first 10 minutes! which was then followed by about 5 others. Luckily we had some trusty anti-sickness tablets with us. Matt managed to sleep nearly the whole way. b******! It never turns out to ...

The blog of journeys. We set out towards Vientiene the capital and as it was a 12 hour journey decided to stop half way in a place called Tha Khaek. As it turns out this was a good choice as the buses in Lao are even more ridiculous than we've seen so far. Pretty standard.. everyone eating eggs as snacks (shudder), 6 hours turned into 11 etc The only difference is that when you buy your ticket your also buying the ability to take ANYTHING and as much as you want...

Sabaydeeeeee from Lao! Why is it that all border crossing seems to turn into an absolute mission? We thought it was going to be so simple as we were staying only three hours from the border. Wrong. When we arrived apparently there was no bus for us so we had to wait around until one was available (for 3 hours) and then maybe pay more if there wasn't many people on it? Asian rules? Then we found out where we planned to go in Si Phan Don didnt have any cash points...

Sorry I haven't written for a while but I've been sick. Bad times, but I will tell this tale a little later. So we arrived in Sihanookville after a horrendous journey from Siem Reap, worst bumpy road ever.. and don't say 8 hours if you mean 12. Several people were sick on the bus and I came very close.
