Mary's Travels
Claire and I woke up and went to the bakery. I got a delicious apple pastry with sugar on top and Claire got pain au chocolat. After that, we left for windsurfing classes. There was hardly any wind today, so moving was kind of hard. Fabio (our instructor, and was he is iItalian) wanted to challenge ous, so he had us go out of the bay. Today was one of the scariest days of my life. We swam out to the buoy, and put up our sails. Then I heard one of the girls say "attention, il y a des petits méduses!" Which means "watch out, there are little jellyfish!" The Kansas girl was scared. Looking down from the tiny board you're standing on and seeing multiple good-sized jellyfish is not the most comforting thing in the world. They were purple and full of stingers. Oh and falling right into them was more than likely. Needless to say, it was good motivation to stay on my board as if my life depended on it, because in that moment, it did. Once I got out of the jellies, things didn't exactly pick up. The waves were much bigger, and I didn't know how to move the board without any wind. I wanted to keep proper stance, but I was getting really sore. Luckily, Fabio started to pick up everyone. A boat coming towards me has never looked so good. Claire had a rough class too. After te jellyfish, she made her way into a rocky shore and was stuck there most of the time. The waves tossed her around, in and out of the rocks. She was also excited to see the boat. Fabio brought us back into the bay, and we just kind of stood around since there wasn't much wind. Then class ended and Claire and I calmed down by lying out on the beach. Once we began to burn, we went back home for lunch. We had tomatoes and avocados, then chicken. We finished with an ice cream in front of the TV where we watched a show about a popstar that Claire knew. When our singer lost, we decided it was time for the beach. There were kids fishing out jellyfish and people getting stung and oh it was not something I was used to. Ugh. Anyways, after a while Claire saw her friends and we went over and played cards with them for about an hour and then Claire saw her other friend, Louise, so we went and talked to her for an hour. By that time it was 7:00, so we went home for dinner. Jean took leftovers from last night and made it into a pasta- it was delicious and very filling. After that good meal, Claire and I had an ice cream and then took showers and went to bed- we were even more pooped than yesterday.
