We say our goodbyes and go our separate ways. The first hour is through rural Provence before we reach the motorway near Avignon. As we approach Narbonne traffic gets busy with long hold ups as everyone heads for the coast. Once we get moving, and have a couple of breaks, we decide to shorten our journey and select a Passion a bit closer to where we are.
After leaving the motorway we find ourselves in the village of Conihac which also has a Passion so we follow the narrow lane and find it; parking for two but there is only us, next to a tiny vineyard.
There is no sign of life except for a line of washing and no one answers the phone. An hour later Ali phones again and Madame answers and comes to meet us. She is very friendly and when Ali asks to buy some wine she insists on passing tastes out to Nick in the van before we chose.
It's a cloudy evening, peaceful with a cool breeze. We have a small steak with a glass of the red wine we've just bought.
