After a quiet and very good night's sleep we are ready to leave at 09:30. Only few miles before we join the motorway to take us to Prague.
In contrast to yesterday's heaving traffic and endless roadworks, this morning there is almost nothing on the road. All around are thick pine forests or rolling farmland with distant hills. Junction signs portray Schoss-this and Schloss-that place-names.
Within an hour we reach the border and enter the Czech Republic, and in another forty minutes we leave the motorway and drive into Pilsn, hoping to find the beer factory. There are numerous roadworks and diversions, so although we see the centre the route deviates too often to bother going all around the houses. What we saw was a mixture of modern high rises n the outskirts, turning to attractive Bavarian terraces and boulevards with tramways and trolley-bus lanes.
After we rejoin the motorway traffic is busier with trucks of many different nationalities; Czech, Bosnian, Latvian, Romanian, Slovenian and any other *-ian you can think of. Between Pilsen and Prague we turn over the first 1000 miles of this adventure.
From the outskirts of Prague we make our way on ever busier roads towards the city centre, with wide intersections, narrow lane markings and busy traffic lights to deal with, but we arrive at River Camping just after 15:20
En route a text from Nick & Grete told us they didn't get their repairs done until 11:00 so they will head as far as possible tonight and join us tomorrow evening.
