Heavy rain last night and still showers this morning. Margo's tyre is flat again, suspected to be a broken wheel weld, so they suggest we head on to Amberg while they find a garage in Kaiserslautern.
Satisfied they are OK to be left, we set off at 10:20 and join the motorway.
Traffic is very busy and frequent showers cause lots of spray, making driving far from pleasant.
Passing Hockenheim we see the grandstands of the motor racing circuit right beside the motorway. A few miles further at Sinsheim there is the spectacular sight of two special aeroplanes; one an Air France Concord, and beside it the Russian copy, a Tupolev 144 'Concordski'.
Apart from that the scenery varies between industrial filth and miles of dense woodland.
We stop in laybys for lunch and coffee and make a final stop in a service station to buy a Vignette [effectively a road tax disc] for the Czech Republic. 10 days cost €12.00. We should reciprocate and charge these countries to use our roads.
At 16:40 we reach Amberg and find the Stellplatz, although not at the place stated in the camperstop book. It's too drizzly to bother going into town, but Ali wanders round to a nearby shop for a few groceries. Electric is available at €1.00 so we plug in and settle in for the evening and have a pizza Ali bought in a garage near the camperstop.
N+G are getting a new wheel tomorrow and hope to drive directly to Prague in one go.
