Today was an earlier start, due to noise and a lot of light coming through the curtains... When I say early, I mean 8am. That's early. Liam woke up a bit later, and then we chilled for an hour or so then went outside to have breakfast here, at the hotel. We both had a set breakfast, which included fried eggs, fried potatoes, amazing toast (homemade possibly?!) with butter and jam, and a cup of tea. Very tasty!! And only about £1.50!!
After breakfast, we dropped a load of washing off at reception, which hopefully should be done by tomorrow morning (I need clean underwear ha), then went for a wander round lakeside, buying a few things for our lunch on the way, and ending up at the boat hire place by Mike's Restaurant. We took out a yellow paddle boat on the lake, and cruised round a bit. It's quite tiring!! We saw the stupa on the top of the hill (a possible walk one day), the castle hotel, a million and one paragliders (still can't decide if I want to do it or not...), the temple on the island, and the nice restaurant/hotel tucked away in one of the coves. Memories from that last place include: jumping off rocks into the water with the Macrories, getting a fishing hook stuck in my ankle, seeing an eel for the first time, seeing the biggest spider I have ever seen in my entire life, and candy foam spray which turns your tongue a different colour.
We sprang about an hour and a half on the lake, with our chesos (cold drinks), bananas, and bakery yummys. A recommended date for any couple visiting Pokhara!!
We then went back to the hotel, and got our stuff together to go to Mahendra Pul - the big long street for local shopping, and a childhood memory for me. It's all changed so much, I could hardly recognise anything!! Apart from the big tree which comes just before the small lane leading down to the fruit and veg market, a place where (at the right time) you can buy KILOS of mangos!! We wandered up and down the road, then ventured onto New Road. Oh, an I bought a sari!! A beautiful red one with gold embroidery. I fell in love with a dark red one with silver on, but unfortunately that was 8000rps, about £48... So I went for this one which was half the price!! There was also a very nice royal blue one, with silver embroidery on, but that was also 8000rps... Liam bought some Nepali material to make into shorts :)
We got to the end of New Road, and got a taxi back to Lakeside, where we stopped and wandered for a bit. I bought Ganga (the lady who looked after me, josh and theo, and helped around the house) a big woollen poncho and gloves for her birthday (as I was instructed to do by my mother), and we then found a local tailor who could make Liam's shorts, and a blouse for my sari. He didn't speak amazing English, so there was a lot of confusion, but we got there in the end!! Fingers and toes crossed everything will be okay tomorrow!!
We then wandered back to the hotel where we chilled for a bit, got showers etc... Then at 6ish we went out to MOONDANCE!!!!! The restaurant owned/managed by Jesse's dad!! And yes Jesse, I saw and talked to your dad :) it was very wierd being back there!! They did it up last year, and put in an extra balcony and staircase, but looks very nice!! We both had the amazing pizzas, apparently "recommended by all guide books".
We found a small bar that had the feeling of being in a warehouse... But it was nice. A bit of live music, a baileys or beer, and a mint shisha (not the best one!!). We then wandered along the street again, and found another bar where we sat with a banana then cherry shisha, just chatting. We must have chatted for hours!! We left at about 10.30ish, and most shops were shut already. Apart from a small fair trade shop which we popped in to to see of they had any thick jumpers (it's getting very cold!!). We ended up buying a tshirt and trousers (Liam), and a yak wool blanket (me), all very nice!!
We walked back to the hotel, and now bed time!! Lamachaur, here we come tomorrow!!
