Penultimate day has arrived! It began with a trip to the expansive and well stocked General Store. Another real classic Aussie set up, with a grand total of about 30 different products and clutter, keepsakes and relics filling every available surface...gold! The road contrary to the map was not sealed for more than about 10kms and was of a similar ilk to yesterday; long, gravel, windy and mostly uphill. I was disappointed not to be on the roadbike more. When I did pull it down from the roof for the second time I noticed the rear tyre was flat. So, ironically, after only a few kilometres on the roady I had my first puncture. Luckily it was as I pulled it off the roof, which meant I had a hand as well as my track pump, which made life a whole lot easier. Apart from this it was a day that was generally uneventful and much easier than yesterday. Even featuring a support vehicle stop and photo opportunity as I entered the home shire.
Tonight sees us in an undisclosed location (no signage to suggest we can't camp, but I'm guessing we can't) but it is a great spot. With a great last night meal of Red Curry Chicken you can't really go wrong. Especially with a selection of fresh (from the esky) veg, rounded out with some Jamieson berries, cherries, stone fruit and double cream. I've certainly finished the trip in style!! Again, big thanks to Mum and Sal for their support and easing me back in to the real world!!
It's been an epic trip and one I'll not soon forget. I know tomorrow will be bit emotional as I ride in the driveway and fulfil a lifelong dream...
