Last night it got down to 2 degrees C - when you are used to 34 during the day and 26 at night this came as a shock.
Liz had it in her head fully clothed under two thick quilts (and room heater) that we cannot camp here. A look on the Internet said otherwise 187 pounds was the cheapest 'room' anywhere near Ayres Rock. So in addition to picking up the car we got an electric blanket and heater for the tent (Australia is so expensive).
Liz sees money saving and thinks treat time, this took the form of potato wedges at Bo Saloon. They had stopped serving just before we got there so we filled the time till the evenings serving, eating free peanuts and drinking.
The saloon is a theme pub but well done. Peanuts came from a copy of Ned Kellys armour in a coffin. Peanut shells litter the floor. The place is packed with enormous curiose. Pretty much everything from a three foot diameter piston to 2ltr salt and pepper pots. We had an interesting chat with the oily designer - "what is that" sort of thing.
We were in good spirits as we made our way back to the backpackers before we froze. The aboriginals on route were as usual shouting at each other.
It was a lovely day.
