Having gained an hour with the clock going back meant we were up in time to see the boat dock in Venice at 7am, and saw the sun come up over the city very beautiful. Early breakfast as we had to be off the boat by 8.15am, thankfully our suitcases had been collected the night before, so no packing. Once off the boat, we collected our suitcases and made our way to the bus station from the cruise terminal, then on to the airport along with passengers from 3 other cruises, who all arrived at the same time! Marco polo airport was heaving with people, had a long wait there for our plane to Zurich at 11am. Quick flight to Zurich on Swiss air and yes we did get given Swiss chocolate - yum! Caught the train and then tram into the city of Zurich to our lovely hotel Helmhaus, I love Switzerland it is so clean and the Swiss are so lovely. Dumped our bags and went exploring walked up to the look out, heaps of shops here, but quite expensive. On recommendation from the hotel staff had dinner at a popular restaurant, which used to be an old weapons storehouse, sat with some locals who helped us with the menu and we had a delicious meal, you can even get a metre long sauasge or wurst as they call it, thankfully Mark didn't attempt that one!! Mark had a litre of beer in a stein and relived his days from the Austrian beer garden lol After tea took a stroll around the city before heading home to bed. Funny how I call the hotel home, old habits die hard.
