We arrived in Halifax in the early afternoon so we had to explore the Harbour area. I was a little surprised that it was an area under construction, I thought this would have been just a little more complete.
Early the next morning we headed out to Peggy's Cove. I've always heard about the beauty in Peggy's Cove, but finally I got a chance to see it for myself. The experience was magnified by the blue skies and the moderate temperatures. The large bulbous rocks that surrounded the all white/red lighthouse made it as pretty as a picture.
We then went to Citadel that is in the center of Halifax proper. It's good to see that the city fathers have left this for all to see. It's like taking a step back into history. Dinners have all been pretty good on this trip, the waiters, the waitresses and the food have all been fantastic. Most staffers have a very good attitude and really seem to love their job.
Today we set out early to make stops in Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. We arrived in Mahone Bay, we came across figures after figures everywhere. It was sort of like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Seems the whole town, whether you were a busines or resident, you put out your "scarecrow" for all to see. It's nice to see a small town who has a sense of humour.
From there we went to Lunenburg, I'd always wanted to see the Bluenose - but we must have crossed paths as it left for Halifax the day before. So I guess I'll just have to look at my change when I need a look.
We're in Yarmouth for the night, taking the CAT Ferry to Portland, Mass tomorrow at 08:30 with the ultimate destination for tomorrow - Boston, Mass. It's been about 30 years since I was in Boston with my kids, so I'm looking forward to see what's been going on these past few years. I hope you enjoy the photos over these past few days - Nova Scotia is a very pretty province.
