After a bit of a drive and a little delay at U.S. Customs (Jackman, Maine) we finally made it to Southwest Harbour Maine. Both Ian & Wendy had to go inside U.S. customs to get their U.S. visa printed off. We arrived just after 5:00 p.m. in S. Harbour and made some calls at the local tourist center to see what was available as we hadn't pre-booked any rooms before we left Quebec City.
We ended up committing to the Mooring Inn in Southwest Harbour about 30 or 40 minutes away from Bar Harbour. I asked our host Gil where a good Seafood restaurant was in the area and without pause he said "Caroline's Lobster Pound" and it's close too he said. So as soon as we loaded our bags into the room we were off. It just so happens that Caroline's is a trailer with outside picnic bench seating - not quite what I had expected. After we stopped staring at each other, we decided to go forward. My 1 1/2 pound red beauty was $24.95 and that included corn on the cob. The only other brave soul was Ian who ordered the Lobster roll sandwich.
The expressions on the girl's faces were one of shock, particularly when the eggs started to roll out of the body. I devoured it quickly, even with my little plastic utensils. We headed back to the Moorings Inn and we all sat in the amazingly quiet parlour, getting caugh up on FB, emails and the like.
Our plan for the morning is a quick run through Bar Harbour and then head in the direction of Fredericton, N.B. An approximate five (5) hour drive in supposedly reasonably good weather. So Deb and I are at Day 11 on this trip and we've already clocked close to 2,000 miles on the Infinity. It will really be due for a wash when we finish our round trip.
Our rooms here at the Moorings Inn are pretty laughable, I think we may be the only guests in the main house as there does not seem to be anyone else stirring. We were wondering if they recently changed the name from the Bates Motel ?

Roswita That must have been an experience! Better luck at other places!
Renetta I believe I have stayed in some places that would probably be in that same category. I hope that you and Deb are enjoying your time with Ian and Wendy. Enjoying your blog and pictures. Hello to all and safe travel!
