From Noosa to Australia Zoo.. no rest for the wicked.
Missed my greyhound bus from noosa so i managed to blag myself onto a transfer coach that was going to the zoo. Arrived there in the morning..
Australia Zoo, home of the crocodile hunter...
As soon as you enter the gates you get the overwhelming feeling of sadness.. I never watched Steve Irwin but within the first ten minutes I wish i had. He's actually seen as a hero here.. memorials lying everywhere but also the fact that one man did such a great thing. Anyway, first thing i did was have some food. I had three massive pancakes, fluffy and delicious! Then watched a show where they introduced animals of all varieties.. the elephants, birds, snakes and of course the crocodiles.. Just before the crocodiles were introduced, Teri Irwin came out (Steve's wife) and did the show just like her husband would have done. I was very close to tears by this point.
After that I wandered the park, bought some kangaroo food and hand fed the kangaroos. It was very cute if a little scary.. as soon as the kangaroos knew i had food they came bounding over- at one point, three at once, and grabbed my hand. literally, their tiny claws clutched my hand as they nuzzled. And of course they knocked me over. When i upload the photo's i'll point out the one where i had just been knocked over and was a wee bit scared. And when there's 3 of them they fight for the food, and graze your hand, which doesnt hurt- it tickles- so i was laughing out loud for ages because your not supposed to pull your hand away.
Anyway after that i did a couple of the walks round, climbed into an crocs mouth, photographed the real crocs, saw a tiger and then hand fed the elephants. I fed Bimbo and Samba.
Pretty good day really, and then on I went to Brisbane!
