Hi People We are currently in Tofino on Vancouver Island(which is an island but the size of the Netherlands). We started the day by taking the ferry to Vancouver Island then carried on by bus from the port town of Nanaimo to Little Qualicum Falls for a picnic lunch and a hike around the falls. From here we ventured further east to Port Alberni (salmon capital of the world) for a look around and we also saw 2 bears at the roadside just taking it easy and posing for photographs, they were only small but so cute and could really run when they needed to. From there we went to Long Beach to have a look at the Pacific Ocean this was really nice and it was good to see the sea!!! We have passed through some really tremendous scenery today including mountains, windy roads, rivers and tree lined hills. Tofino is a really cool place just a small fishing town with a little high street. We have booked to go whale watching tomorrow in a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) so hopefully we will be really lucky. Have just had a group meal tonight for only 5 dollars each around 2 pound 50p (damn american keyboard no pound sign!!!!) The hostel we are at is sat right on the water looking out towards the mountains and the tree lined hills it really is very picturesque. we have the day to just kick back and relax tomorrow after the whale watching before moving south to Victoria. The group that we have are really nice and mixed there are 17 of us but 4 couples so its easy to find something in common with somebody. Anyway must go and rejoin my group for a beer and a chat.
