After an unusual bus journey home which we're not so sure was entirely legitimate; we were ferried to numerous different back street cafes, even having to climb into the back of a pick-up truck with Rob dangling off the edge, before our bus finally arrived! But we arrived in Bangkok safe and sound, in the wee hours of the following morning. We decided to stay in Banglamphu, behind Khao San Road, in order to be better situated for Visa applications (and nightlife!). Having done the mainstream tourist sights we decided to delve into bizarre Bangkok and what better way to begin? A ladyboy cabaret show at Mambo Cabaret, of course! It was a fantastic night; lots of pop songs, dancing, costumes, dangerously high stilettos and wheelbarrows full of make-up! Rob even met some of the stars!
On Mum and Robs last day we decided to something a little bit special, and visted......the Medical Museum! The six different museums featured the weird and wonderful; including a blood stained t-shirt from the victim of a dildo attack and the mumified body the famous Thai muderer Si-Ouey!! It was a bit gruesome in places, with many displays of organs, bones and pictures from fatal accidents and murders!! There was a really good exhibit on the Tsunami though, but this too was a little bit shocking, particulary as it was so real, with lots of photos and videos.
After some last minute bargain hunting on Khao San Road, it was time to say goodbye to Mum and Rob, after a great two weeks.
