We headed to the Bus Terminal to buy an overnight bus ticket to Krabi (we're breaking Mum and Rob in slowly with a 12 hour bus journey!), which took us longer than planned, as we couldn't find the bus stop and ended up walking most of the way ourselves! We then went to the infamous Khao San Road, as featured on the film 'The Beach', which is VERY backpackery, but is good for cheap clothes and CD's. We also ended up buying THE travel bible, The Lonely Planet book for Thailand, after Laura had severe withdrawal symptons and heart palpatations at not being being able to plan, plan, plan! The book pointed out that the area we were staying in, on Sukhumvit Road, is renowed for sex tourists; where old men pick up young thai women! We saw PLENTY of this - and were quite surpised it wasn't just a myth!
That night we went to a great restaurant, Vientiane Kitchen, which had a thai band and traditional dancing and an extensive Thai menu which included Boiled Ant Eggs, Snake Head Fish and Boiled Frog...we opted for something a little more appetising though!
