We visited the Guggenheim Museum which was showing an exhibition of Zaha Hadid who is an architect, designing things like part of the Millenium Dome, the new Olympic Aquatic Centre in London and lots of other futuristic looking buildings all over the world. We arrived in New York late on Sunday, took a two hour trip on the Subway to get to the Upper West Side, where we were staying. The next day we went to Times Square and had a walk around the massive billboards and the crowded streets just taking it all in, and sweating, a lot! It was soooo hot! We took a mini bus to LA, after our bad experiences with Greyhound, which turned out to be much better! We left Yosemite at 6am and arrived back in San Francisco in time to do a tour of Alcatraz, the famous high security prison. Alcatraz is built on a rock island about a mile from San Francisco Bay. It was originally built as a permanent fort, to protect the Bay during the Gold Rush in the late 1800's. We picked up our car and set of for Yosemite National Park, about 4-5 hours from San Francisco. We arrived and booked into our Canvas Tent - which cost us $80 a night!! But we were based right in the centre of the National Park, and had great views, which we suppose made up for it! The first night was uneventful, in terms of sleeping, as we didn't actually get any! We had Snorey McSnore next to us and Mr Snorison behind us and the kids from hell all around!...
