Drove to Orasei ( no mean feat ) for a highly recommended lunch at La Taverna which was probably the worst meal we have ever had. I don't know what the pig suckled upon but we were certainly suckered. The day got worse when we booked a hotel in olbia a 100k drive only to find out that there is also a province of the same name and the hotel was 100 k from whence we came. Ann said no way Jose and agreed to book us into what became a great stop. The hotel was the Margherita hotel overlooking a beautiful bay in golfo di Aranci on a peninsula to the east of Olbia. We gave the owners (not Ann) the story of the hotel which had been paid for over the internet and pleaded for a discount to the rather smart Swiss owners whom gratefully gave us 50% off. Worth asking for as it was a great stay with a wondeful dinner with an exceptional white Sardinian wine called Funtanaliras
