It's been a few days since our last blog update, mainly because we have not been up to a great deal in this time.
On Friday, we went back to the Witches market to do some more shopping. Beth wants to go back again tonight which seems a bit crazy to me!! After buying a few bits, I got a hat for the upcoming Inca Trail and Beth got a wristband, we went and collected the photos from the tour company for the Death Road. To be honest, the pictures weren't great and are pretty blurry but the videos are decent and we will try to upload these when we get decent wifi. We then booked our bus to Copacabana for Monday which was only 30Bs. The bus is also meant to have wifi but after previous promises, we will believe this when we see it. On Friday night, we were both feeling a little bit ill as we headed out for tea. We had decided to go to the Taj Mahal which, as you can probably guess, is an Indian restaurant. The food was pretty good but the service was an absolute joke. When we first walked in, the waiter looked upset that we had even turned up and I don't think he muttered a word to us as he slammed the menus down on the table. After waiting about 15 minutes to order, the food didn't take too long to come out but again he never said a word to us. We later found out that the waiter was the cook as well which may be the reason for his disgruntlement.
We both awoke on Saturday feeling really ill. Beth had a really bad stomach whilst I had developed a cold from the Death Road. Not wanting to completely waste the day, I decided to head out to catch a bit of football while Beth decided she couldn't move. Whilst in the pub I ordered a tea only for the waitress to serve me a pint of hot water with a tea bag. Another first for our travels is having a pint of tea!! After watching the Barcelona - Real Madrid game in a bar in town, I went back to the room to find a still ill Beth. We didn't really move from the room and had an early night hoping to feel better the next today.
We have felt a bit better today; better enough to venture out of the room anyway. As it was the derby match, we went to the English pub to catch the game and have breakfast. I will not mention the result suffice to say that there was a big thunderstorm here as the game finished which accurately reflected my mood!!!! We have packed our bags ready to leave for Copacabana and are heading out for some tea later tonight.
I think we are both ready to leave La Paz and the fact that we have been ill for the past few days has probably affected our judgement of the city. We are both a bit tired of big cities and are looking forward to getting to somewhere a bit smaller and seeing some scenery again. Overall, I have quite liked La Paz but 3 days is probably enough here and Sucre is definitely a nicer city to visit.
