We headed off in August 2023 to Majorca for our holiday, our first as a family of 5 and we were meeting Belinda and Ed there. We flew from Heathrow business class and we had to queue as there was a problem with the baggage belts so it was long. Then we went to Boots to pick up the order for pouches and milk. After we got some water we went to the lounge and the boys had a play in the play area and we ate some food. The boys enjoyed the crisps and breadsticks. The afternoon food was a bit rubbish generally compared to the breakfast options. We then joined the queue for boarding and we were sat on the plane for almost 2 hours delay which was not great but the kids did very well. But it was a late afternoon flight so they were soon getting tired. We had afternoon tea on the plane which was ok but the boys didn't eat it. We could have ordered a kids option if we had known in time. We landed and had a queue waiting for luggage and then passport control. The buggy was a bit broken as well. When we got through our transfer had gone so they separated us into two cars and they were not the most robust car seats for the kids. I had Emily and Thomas with me and we saw a plane come into land as we drove away from the airport. It was a good 40 mins and we were all knackered. We had to quickly settle everyone down to sleep and it was around half 11 when we finally got to bed after our delay.
On Thursday we went for breakfast and it was all busy and we were allocated to 1 restaurant of 2. We had brought Emily's porridge with us and the boys tried some food. We then went around to explore and checked out the jungle pool and the boys went in for a swim briefly. It was a big hotel and there were so many sun-beds it reminded us of Benidorm the TV show. We then headed to the kids splash park which had two pool areas. There was one that had steps up to a slide and mini slides around it. And a second one that had a climbing area and slides and pineapple trees and animals water features. Later on Belinda and Ed arrived and the boys were so excited to see them. They were on the ground floor and we were on the 2nd floor. It was Belinda's birthday as well so we went for our dinner together and sang happy birthday to Belinda. There were loads of amusement rides all around the hotel that the boys loved to go on. There was a red car, aeroplane, horse. They were the favourites and Belinda probably spent half her retirement paying for them to go on them.
On Friday it was Thomas's 6th birthday. We had brought a few presents with us, 1 being lego 3 in 1 dinosaur so he opened them in the morning and put a birthday badge on. We went to pick his grandparents up for breakfast and they gave him a marvel lego and a transformer. We spent the day in the kids splash park, more amusement rides and they used the trampolines. Belinda bought them a crocodile float and a Spiderman float which they enjoyed taking them on the slides. Emily had a little purple and pink float we had brought with us and we all pulled her around in it. She wasn't always sure about the pool. Later for dinner we got ice cream and jelly to sing happy birthday with and took some pictures of us all. They ended with a ride on a horse and bike machine. Rich and I took the kids to the room but Thomas stayed with Belinda and Ed for the kids shows. I then joined them and joined in the music train around the area. I had recognised a girl I had seen and when we joined the musical train with other kids and parents I realised it was my friend Natalie M's best friend and her twin daughters.. such a small world but I introduced myself and we took a picture to send Natalie.
On Saturday we took our first trip to the beach. We put Alex in the buggy and Emily in the carrier. There was a pirate park we saw on the way past. We headed to the beach and setup a little space for our stuff whilst the boys went in the sea with Belinda. I went in a bit and Emily stayed in the carrier with Richard. They left a bit before us so Emily could have her nap. After a while we left and headed for the park and Alex needed the loo so we stopped in a cafe. Later that night we tried the Mexican restaurant which was quite nice.
On Sunday we went to the water park which was across the road and you paid to get in. It was a nice area, had a small pool area and a bigger one with some bigger rides. We did the bigger water slides with the boys but then Thomas started doing them on his own. When we went to lunch there was a big queue, Alex liked the white slide and Thomas the orange. Emily had a go in the float and there was a bubble pool there as well. Later I tried a Pina colada.
On Monday we went to the beach and Belinda and Ed went on the horse and cart with the boys and we went for a walk with Emily. After we finished at the beach we went to the splash pool
On Tuesday they went to feed the fish but they weren't hungry. The boys went on the electric cars and we went to the water park.
Wednesday and it was time to go home. We had some breakfast and went to finish packing and shower and the boys went on a few more rides and we waited in reception but our transfer was late. We said our goodbyes to Belinda and Ed. There was a big queue at the airport so me and the kids looked at the aquarium and walked around. The kids were good on the aeroplane generally and Emily had another sleep on Richard. Alex generally gets more fidgety after a short while. When we got to Heathrow there were no sign of our buggies as we had walked to the bag collection so maybe they had taken them to the plane door, so we had to report them missing as couldn't wait any longer. They were returned a few days later. It was a good first holiday as a family of 5 and it was lovely to spend the time with Belinda and Ed.
