We went to Spain for our first holiday in 2024. We were awake at 4.50 and got the kids up who were very excited as we watched the sunrise on route to the airport. Thomas didn't feel well so he went in the buggy, Emily in the carrier and Alex walked and sat on luggage. We flew from Stanstead and it was pretty smooth. Ryanair had machines for checking in the bags and we had fast pass for security. Alex got a stop and search and he loved it so we had a giggle about it. We went to the toilets then got a Pret - Croissants and baguettes. Thomas perked up after he ate. We went for the train shuttle and I asked Richard if we were on the right train and he was confident it was… until we got to the other side and realised it was a different Majorca flight which meant a mad dash around back way passages to make it in time for our flight. Emily sat with Richard on the way out and I had the boys. When we landed our transfer was 15 mins late, we were all a bit tired and thirsty and wanted to get to the hotel. We couldn't get our key for our room so went for some food until our room was ready. We were on the 20th floor and the balcony screen didn't go that high which was a bit scary so the kids weren't allowed out there without us. We then went to explore and went to the kids pirate pool with a softplay and climbing frame was nearby. There was a snack bar which served endless amount of chips and doner meat. There were adult big slides (Thomas was just too small for them) Various pools with kids water slides and a small area with a pirate slide. There was a pool bar but that was quite far across in a deeper pool. The boys were sharing a room and took a while to settle and were awake early again. We pushed their beds together. The first night was so windy I thought we were going to take off. Rich tried to go into Emilys room and the force of the wind was so strong (not the strongest of windows) that he had to push the door hard to open it.
On Tuesday we went for a little wander and went to the small nearby beach which had a playground in the front of it and also one on the beach. The boys enjoyed running in the sea then we went to the beach playground and met a little Irish girl. We popped to the shops and got a big water and cheetos. By the time we got back we had lunch and then it was time for Emily to have a nap so I stayed and snoozed. We then joined the boys at the pirate pool where we spent most the holiday and the boys were around there (it was very cold but Alex went in quite a bit) there was a soft play area which did have some right feral kids running around. There was also a climbing area which was tricky as you had to climb up ropes to get to the slide so Alex couldn't quite manage without a lift up. Later that night it was a Mexican theme food. Rich took the little two to bed and I went to the entertainment with Thomas but didn't start properly until 9. They did kids club at 7 which was when we went for food. One night there was a massive queue when we were leaving dinner so didn't fancy queuing in that by taking a later dinner after the kids disco.
On Wednesday we took a walk to Aldi as we had forgotten the kids shampoo and bubble bath. We picked up some other snacks. The boys were loving the jacuzzi and I went in the big pool with them but it was freezing. It was nice enough weather, not to hot but the pools were far too cold. We had a daily tradition to go to the onsite ice cream truck at 3, there was another van next to it that did waffles but we never tried it. I did 2 of the adult swim slides rides, one was on a big rubber ring going around a twisty tunnel and the other was like a big slope you went down and up. We then went back to the pirate pool. Later on Thomas got upset by boys on the slide who were pushing him down, we saw them later and they were like 4 x 4 years olds being mean to him (bless). Later that evening, Thomas bottle split when it was dropped and cracked open. Later that night it was a Chinese theme for dinner. Rich stayed up with Thomas but they didn't stay to long as it was pretty cold. As usual I got up when Emily did a cry and got her some milk and she vomited down the muslin which was luckily in front of her. She then proceeded to vomit over my shoulder over the side of the little bed. We cleaned her up and put her back to bed and woke agin not long after and she had vomited in the bed. Poor little baby.
On Thursday we gave Emily a bath and cleaned up stuff. We then went for a wander to the bigger beach which took us on a mini hike up some hills. There was a little playground on the beach which Emily enjoyed. Thomas loved running in the sea and Alex playing in sand. On the walk back a police car went back and the boys were waving so they put the police siren on which I think Alex found to loud. Rich then took her back to the room to have some milk before they joined us by the pool. She had been in pretty good form but we thought we would give her a pouch, that was a bad move, she vomited all down herself in the buggy. We cleaned her up as much as we could with wet wipes then headed to the room, she vomited all over Richard. Rich got cleaned up then took the boys down to the pool and we stayed in the room until 4. I went on the remaining slides but one was closed. I really enjoyed them. We decided to go to the snack bar for our dinner. I took both the boys to the disco and Rich took Emily to bed.
On Friday Rich was sick and Emily slept a good 13 hours. We went for breakfast and Rich did a massive vomit in the reception toilets. Emily was still a bit unwell (no vomit at least) so she went back to sleep at 10.30 with Richard. I took boys to the softplay, pool and jacuzzi. We then checked on Rich and all went for lunch, Emily had crackers and a little milk. We then went outside to the jacuzzi, small pool and crisps and softplay. Rich and Emily went back to the room. Generally not a great day for Richard and Emily. The boys had a bath and used their blue bath bombs which had little dinosaurs in.
Saturday was my 41st birthday and I woke up to the kids singing happy birthday, well Alex. I opened my lovely cards and presents. Did Emily a bottle and she was a little better. We went for breakfast and to the pools. At lunch Emily had a massive explosion whilst sat in the buggy so Rich took her off to sort her out. We did our usual routine around the hotel as Rich was better but still ropey. Later that evening we went for a walk to get some food outside the hotel and went to the beach front and had pizza. There was birds around trying to eat any leftover food. It was really nice to get out of the hotel and eat elsewhere. The kids had a play in the park beside the restaurant and we headed back. Overnight Thomas woke up saying he didn't feel well so we knew he was coming down with the bug. The next day we went for breakfast but Thomas didn't eat much. He stayed in the room all day. Rich, Alex and Emily went down for a bit whilst I stayed with Thomas. After they had been downstairs for a bit they came up for Emily's nap. I was chilling for a bit and then I took Alex for lunch when all others napped and then the pool and softplay. Alex and I went back to room around 3 and Emily was asleep. Rich went out with Emily when she woke and not longer after he left, I vomited then Alex after 20 mins. We were both very poorly, it was horrific. Alex kept trying to drink lots of water even though I told him not to and then at one point he ran to the toilet, vomited, slipped over whilst I picked him up to carry him to the toilet. I was trying to do the last bit of packing but I felt really bad. I told Thomas and Alex to go to sleep and we would hopefully feel better in the morning. Alex slept in bed with me whilst Rich went for dinner with Emily and we all slept. In the middle of the night Emily was sick in the night (I couldn't believe it) I was seriously worried we wouldn't make it home at this point.
On Monday we gave the kids a bath, then went down to breakfast but we didn't really eat. Luckily none of us vomited but still didn't feel well. My poor Alex looked very peaky. When we checked out i complained to the hotel reception who didn't seem very sympathetic and said why didn't you tell me sooner as I could have done something (but I said why would you want to see that and what could you do?) A woman nearby said they had the same and the staff knew all about it and she was a chef and the food wasn't cooked properly. A woman behind said they had also been sick. The hotel was riddled with sickness. It was a really rubbish end to the holiday. There was a big queue at Ryanair but we found a play area near the gate. I had kept some of our crisps back for the kids and some plain snacks. I sat with Emily on the way back and two women who were very nice. Rich had sat next to 2 foreign people on the way over who didn't look happy sat next to a baby even though they were on their phone talking to people at times. Emily was not happy going down and just when we thought we were landing we took off again. There were high winds so they said they would try again (if they couldn't then they would sort an alternative landing spot) so had to circle for what felt like forever and managed to land on the second landing. It was horrible as I felt very delicate. Luckily passport queue was not too bad and the bags were out quickly. We got Mc d on the way home. Our holiday with all the sickness was over and I was never happier to be home.
