Sawat Dii Ka,
Well what a mission! Getting to Koh Lanta was fine, just an hour away from Koh Phi Phi by boat. I decided to stay at a place called Blue Adaman, from the picture I was shown on the boat it looked lovely, with a swimming pool and huts right on the beach and all for only 200B. When I got there the place was quite nice, the pool looked as it did in the picture and it was on the beach, however my room was awful. It was really dirty, the windows wouldn't shut, the mosquito nets were broken and there was a hole in the roof.
I asked if they had another room, but all they had left were rickety old shacks, that looked about 1 hundred years old. Generally I wouldn't be so picky, but because I now have over 50 bites (27 on one leg below the knee!) and some of them are infected I just couldn't risk it. So I asked them to take me to Long Beach Resort where some people I now were going (S+E, remember Sarah and Andy on Koh Phang Nan? Met them in Koh Phi Phi!). I confirmed the place about 20 times with the taxi driver, but he proceeded to take me to another resort called Palm Beach (probably owned by a relative.) By this time I was boiling though, and the rooms were pretty decent, so I stayed here.
It is very nice on Long Beach and lives up to its name. It takes about 40/50 mins to walk the stretch of the beach from North to South. There is still quite a lot of debris on the beach from the Tsunami here too and many of the restaurants aren't yet up and running, but it wasn't hit as badly as Koh Phi Phi, so much of it is ok. There are several bars along the sea front and you can see the sun setting out across the sea, which you couldn't in Phi Phi due to the rocks. The sea is quite rough, with really big waves. I had to time my entrance and exit into the water carefully so I didn't get dragged under! A one point a near tidal wave was coming towards me so I dived under it and nearly lost my bikini bottoms.....(not a pretty site, my lilly-white arse sticky up in the sea for all to see!)...luckily managed to pull them back on quickly. A speed boat came into shore to try to drop off people who had obviously been on a trip, but the waves were taking it so high and then smashing it back down hard that it had to drive out to sea again and moor elsewhere. Lots of fun though, the surfers were enjoying themselves too.
I met 4 people that I met on Phi Phi yesterday and had dinner with them last night. 2 are traveling to Malaysia in the next few days, so I might finally have found some traveling buddies. Yippee!
I went to the doctors today and I am now on antibiotics for my leg, as it is infected, which is what keeps making my feet swell. No alcohol for me for 7 days - ouch! Still I drank sooooo much on Koh Phi Phi, I don't think it will hurt. I'm not allowed in the water for a couple of days, which is a bummer.
I was thinking about going to Koh Lipe tomorrow, but I think I might hang around here now as there is a bit more to do (not much mind!). I am hopefully going to ride a horse along the beach tomorrow, which is something I have always wanted to do.
Anyway enough from me. Keeping sending me little messages....(or send me one if you haven't you b*****s!)
