Today we drove from Nelson to picton....firstly we had a look and walk around the city of Nelson....very pretty???lots of flowers over every shop???Liz and Trevor tell us this costs the shop owners $200 per year for council to maintain and the few shops that do not do it are Aussie shops! Not sure about that but definately not every shop does it...but a fantastic little town! Really liked Nelson! Drove to Haverton where we had coffee at the slip inn at the yacht ...

Had a bit of a late start as Fred was a bit worn out! Can't figure that one out! I went down far brekky and had a wonderful walk on beach...no waves...a few paddle boarders out...in their sweaters and shorts! Day started off sunny and cool. As we drove through mountains it got cooler. Great views of clouds mid stage in mountains as well as on top of mountains. Again roads went up, down, and hair pin turns and one way bridges. Really needed to keep your wits about you. I loved all the big pines in the mountain foothills. Well woke up this morning and it was raining...actually pouring. Today is our drive up the west coast with some of the most spectacular coastal scenery! However we are happy as we had excellent weather for our Milford Sound and our glacier and mt cook flights! Scenery was pretty despite the rain....up and down mountains, windy hair pin bends again, lots of one way bridges, valleys with lots of cattle....as it rains here a lot there is lots of lush land! Well we woke up early to go to airport for a 9 am helicopter flight! WeTher was perfect! Clear and warm! Only 3 passengers in a four seater helicopter! We first flew up over Mt Cook which is 12,300 feet high....we then flew over Fox Glacier and Franz Glacier....Franz glacier is the fastest moving glacier in the world and moves 2 to 3 metres a day as compared to most w/w which move 700 ml a day...it might disappear in 30 years.
