Lynda and Fred Travels
Well arrived in our hotel about 10am and they gave us a room right away...what a relief! A shower was heaven. We then took the hop on hop off bus around the city. Budapest is very old and buildings are very bleak...all stores are imbedded in old buildings...hard to see. No shopping malls. Budapest is trying to copy Paris with its outdoor restaurants and cafes...not quite the same though. We had lunch in the Budapest side of the river way up in the hills at the Citadela Lounge....best view over Budapest. Fred was delighted to get real food....not Asian! It is sooo hot here....I would say 40 degrees...all restaurants had fans that blew moisture as well as air...so nice! Our hotel is only one block away from the Main Street where all activity is...Vaci street... Very interesting tour but hot....unlike Singapore where every second car is a taxi...you don't see any here at all.... Apparently Budapest is known for one of the top countries to read a lot so there are lots of book stores. Goulash soup seems to be the favourite dish...must try. Unlike Singapore lots of bars and cafes....still,expensive to drink alcohol.... We were knackered when we got back to hotel...thought wed have a nap at 6 and then go out for dinner but did not wake up till 4am next day!
