Had a good nights sleep and breakfast at our hotel. We headed out to rent a car and thankfully it was not at airport but a 5 minute walk from our hotel....it was really easy to get on freeway from there and to tom did the rest for us! We went through the Rockies but they are not nearly as impressive as Canadian Rockies...majestic the same...but no vegetation...just dirt and small rocks and shrubs... Exciting was getting on Route 66...just get our kicks from Route 66! Real neat....****** road but you go through ghost towns of the past...unreal....stopped at a diner that was a bikie hang out...walking in it you would think you were in yesteryear...people and all! Arrived in Needles...pretty cool town on Colorado river....went searching for a place for dinner...not too many in this town! Found a neat place out of town right on the river....could not sit outside as it was 110 degrees...hot, dry, and definately uncomfortable! But we had a drink there and chatted with the friendly staff....then toured Needles and went out to dinner locally. Nice place we stayed in....had a pool but too hot to go in! So today we travelled through Californis getting a good feel for the country....mountains...dirt and rock...no colour!
