LINDA'S TALES OF TRAVEL AND OTHER CATASTROPHES
We finally got our luggage back on Monday night - ironically we had just wasted a morning trying to buy all of the 'essentials' we needed to get by. I was thankful for insurance, but unfortunately $200 Australian dollars doesn't get you very far when you convert it into Euros - especially not in the centre of Paris! Anyway, we though we found a good department store (BHV) where we could but everything at once but it turned out to be more of a David Jones than the Target we were looking for. Oh and I had no idea what size I was in France, let alone what the hell all those French signs meant! Lets just say I am now the lucy owner of a $20 pair of undies that are a little on the small side. Oh well, C'est la vie as the French have it!
On the bright side we sorted out the accommodation and managed to arrange a double room for the other nights. The MIJE hostel we are staying at is really nice - they are old aristocratic residences and the one we spent most of our time in has a gorgeous courtyard. Oh yeah, and we get a hot chocolate, baguette and croissant for breakfast every morning so I'm happy :)
Tomorrow we leave for Barcelona and I am sad to leave Paris. I didn't want to get my expectations up too high but I have absolutely loved it. We have covered miles of the city on foot while here (and my body is now feeling it!) but it was well worth seeing as much as possible. There are so many amazing sites and so many awesome buildings in the centre of Paris that you almost can't take it all in. But the best bit was, whenever I needed a rest (which was quite often!), there was a lovely garden or courtyard to chill out in. The French really know how to do a garden...
Bonsoir (Goodnight).
