We arrived early in the morning after driving a few hours down from Fox Glacier. We carried on route 7 to Greymouth and then down the coastal road all the way to Fox Glacier. There are 2 main glaciers in this region called Fox and Franz Joseph. All the backpackers tend to go to Franz Joseph but we were told by a local that the Fox Glacier is better so we went there instead. We hit the road early and decided to cross the island on what was supposed to be one of the best roads in NZ, route 7. They wern't wrong, up and down dipping through the valleys and cliff edges with amazing views all the time, the sun moving thorugh the sky creating crazy shaddows and great contrsasts on the colours of the valleys in the distance. The ferry over was really nice, the views of the mountains and landscapes as we came into Picton were really nice. We planned to head down to Kaikoura as our first stop to check out he whales and dolphins. We arrived in Wellington, back to reality for a while as we went out on a few nights of partying. We managed to get on a bar crawl and found we were pretty much the only people there haha, but it did mean we managed to meet some Maori folk who took us out to a few clubs and managed to getus in to some nice places without queuing which was a result. Before we left they did the Haka for us which was a good laugh :) The rest of the time was pretty much sightseeing....
