We succeeded with our Giants ticket scalp. $100 a pop for tickets high up on the 3rd base line. The atmosphere was crazy! Game was a nail-biter as well, Giants got the winning run in the bottom of the 9th and the crowd went off. The whole city pretty much went off.
The next day I took a tour of San Fran. Cruised over the golden gate bridge, saw fisherman's wharf, twin peaks, which had a cool view of the city, and golden gate park. Lewis and I went to a Pub that night to watch the Giants game, they got beat but we caught up with a mate that we'd met in Thailand. We all went out together that night to a pub that had beer pong, and made an impulse decision to head up to Chico together for the weekend. Why not?
We left the next morning north-westbound for Chico. Chico is a pretty small city in the middle of nowhere. Chico State University is probably responsible for most of the activity in town. We got in around mid-arvo and cruised round campus, had a kick on their soccer pitch and drove past a few frat and sorority houses. Our mate from Thailand, Wells, had a few mates in town but we ended up staying at Jakes place. No TV no internet, but he had an awesome beer pong table set up! We played a couple of games then went out for a bit of a pub crawl around town and finished the night by crashing a Frat party, only for it to be shutdown by the cops 15 minutes later.
The next day we got some breakfast at an american-style diner and played a little more beer pong. We hit a a club later that night, a club that charged a whopping $2 cover charge on the door. It was to be our first real taste of the American rnb & hip hop culture. Was pretty rubbish, but another good night was had.
For the better part of Sunday, we slept. We woke up around noon and went to the grocery store to pick up some breakfast ingredients and a handle of vodka (1.75 Litres). We went back to the house made some breakfast then went back to sleep. Woke up at 7pm and called a Sunday sip. Had a few people come over for more beer pong and shenanigans, which saw the handle get demolished.
The next day was pretty uneventful, we just walked round chico campus and Lewis cooked his signature special for dinner. Tuesday we went Halloween costume shopping. Halloweens obviously pretty massive over here so we thought we'd get a leg up before the weekend. Tuesday nights buck night in chico. All there clubs sell dollar drinks. We were actually going to leave Chico on Monday until we heard about Tuesday buck night! Anyway we went out for a final night. Another beer pong sess beforehand. Me and Jake
dominated.
We caught a Wednesday afternoon Amtrak bus back to San Fran. Got in just in time to see the giants take a 1 nil lead in the world series! Me and Lewis were staying with another friend that we had met in Thailand, Roxy. We were planning on getting a late dinner and having an early night, but Roxy called a couple of her friends over to play some drinking games then we hit a pretty cool club in the city.
We were back on the bus the next morning, down the 101 en route to San Luis Obispo. We stayed with a couple of our mates, Jason & Robbie, who we met on our contiki in Europe. They lived on campus at Cal Poly. They had a pretty lively campus but we didn't really socialise much. Took some time out from partying to catch up on some sleep. Lewis and I got involved in their weekly social soccer match down on their fields. Our form was pretty disappointing and we both woke up the next morning feeling like someone had attacked our legs with knives. Sharp pain everywhere!
On Saturday, Robbie and Jas brought us down to Santa Barbara, a city notorious for their Halloween celebrations amongst other things! We stayed at one of Lewis' camp america buddies from a few years back, Josh. He has a place with perfect location, on the main road opposite the beach. We had only arrived for a couple of hours before we were in costume (Lewis - buzz tight year, myself - super Mario) playing beer pong, doing keg stands, beer bongs the works. The streets were packed, pretty much every house on the street was throwing a house party. Was crazy.
Most people went home back to their respective colleges the next day as they all had classes Monday. We had another Halloween party but the night was far more tame than the previous.
To be continued..
