Cabo San Lucas is paradise. Steve and I checked into our room mid afternoon Saturday the 11th and were both immediately in awe at one - how ridiculously good our resort was (2 massive pools situated around a pool bar with day beds scattered everywhere) and two - the location of our room (on top of the resorts nighclub, Passion, with a big arse deck looking out over our pool with the southern tip of Mexico in the distance).
Pre-arrival I jokingly labelled the week, leisure week. I was looking forward to doing pretty much nothing. Maybe a bit of gym, tanning and Mexican cuisine (GTM). My health was in disarray yet again, and I welcomed back old mate conjunctivitis on my first day.
Our nights, however, were anything but leisurely! We were quick to realise that we didn't really fit in downstairs at Passion. Expensive drinks and expensive ladies... $1 shots of tequila and body shots downtown at Happy Endings was more up our alley. Downtown had a string of fun pubs and clubs full of both tourists and locals. I think 5 of our 7 nights in cabo, we were out downtown. Always fun, loose nights associated with too much tequila.
Me and steve also got amongst some day activities whilst in town. Swimming with dolphins was definitely a highlight. We also went jet skiing, took a little tour around lovers and divorce beach and jumped aboard a booze cruise.
The better part of our days though were spent laying out on our day beds hungover, next to our luxurios pool, nibbling on nachos and sipping on cocktails (or non-alcoholic fruit smoothies that I so frequently got paid out for drinking)
Our concierge, Aldo, was a legend. He let us bring grog into our room, which was generally not allowed. He also let us accommodate pre-drink parties with some friends that we met throughout the week (Dave, Sam, Bianca, Natalie, and kiwi Dan).
All in all it was a great week. Loved the food, loved the people, loved the vibe.. I definitely want to return someday soon.
I'm currently on my way back to Los Angeles. A couple more days before I'm finally homebound.
To be continued..
