After Halloween weekend we stuck around in Santa Barbara for another
week. A typcal day involved sleeping in, having brunch @ steak &
hoagies, sun baking and kickin a ball around in the park overlooking
the beach, afternoon naps, dinner @ steak & hoagies, 7 11 doubles &
snappa.
We had awesome weather, 25-30 and fine everyday. The party scene was
pretty quiet after Halloween but we went to a house party one night
and we took Josh out for his first night on the town later on in the
week.
We stayed with a bunch of champion blokes, their place was awesome and
they made us feel more than welcome for the week we were there. Santa
Barbara will also be remembered for Steak & Hoagies where we ate their
Philly cheese steak bomb combos 10 out of the 12 meals we were there.
The little family ran business delivered the goods every time!
On Saturday the 6th we caught a 9 o'clock train (just making it) to
Laguna via a quick pitstop in LA. The train dropped us off in some
dodgy laguna neighbourhood but we eventually found our way to the beach.
Laguna beach vibe is similar to that of a small country town. No big
corps just boutique shops and trendy restaurants. I don't reckon many
people struggle for money there either. Our hotel was right on the
beach, which was perfect. Needless to say where we spent all our
daytime.
Unfortunately we couldn't find alot to do when the sun went down. Not
many pubs/clubs or people our age to mingle with left us a little
bored. But after couch surfing for the better part of 2 weeks, I was
kind of content to catchup on some sleep in my big double bed.
On our last day we took a bus north to Newport. (we tried to walk it
there the day before which was a massive mistake). We strolled around
balboa island, Newport beach and pier. Lewis also caught up with an
old friend, before we made our way home via the ghetto.
Thursday, the 11th of November, we arrived in Hollywood! There were no
secret or hidden motives for going there, our intention was to party
hard for each of lewis' 3 remaining nights.
After some in n out burger and lewis' spaghetti bol, we joined up for
a limo cruise which took us to some famous pub and a club later on in
the night. The pub had a mechanical bull in the middle of it, which
was a bit of a safety hazard. We both gave it a crack though. I
struggled but Lewis rode it like a champ and made that bull he's
b****! The club we went to was alright too, a pretty good night wad had.
The next day we walked up and down Hollywood Blvd and checked out the
stars on the walk of fame. Didn't do alot apart from that. We signed
up for another club crawl with the hostel, which took us to a couple
of bars and clubs.
Saturday was similarly a day of rest followed by yet another, and our
very last club crawl together. Our hostel threw a bit of a party
beforehand with some beer pong and punch skulls which was pretty fun.
Lewis is signing off and flying home tonight. All good things must
come to an end unfortunately.. And I think, to put it mildly, we've
had the time our lives over the past 4 and a bit months together. Been a pleasure mate, definitely wasnt always smooth sailing, but i think we did alright. I look forward to sharing and reflectiong on our memories when i get back!
To be continued.. Lewis would like to add ' its a sad, sad day, a day of reflection, possibly tears but tears of joy'
