Monday the 15th, was my first day without Lewis. My morning was noticably quieter without getting a gobful about how much I snored the night before, and my walk to get breakfast was definitely more peaceful without getting pushed off the sidewalk every 10 metres. I was immediately bored though.
After breakfast I headed to Hollywood Blvd. I'd overheard a rumour that Christina Aguilera was getting her star on the walk of fame, sure enough she was. There was a pretty decent crowd for the ceremony. I just hung around for a bit of an 'Uncle Merv' and a few pics then left happy with my celeb fix for the morning.
Just after lunch I took a shuttle back up to San Francisco, a 7 hour drive I got in about 8 o clock. Roxy was kind enough to let me crash with her whilst I was in town.
San Fran turned on some good weather for my first few days, but I was soon to understand why people were giving me wierd looks when I was rocking out in shirt and shorts.. The city can also turn on all four seasons in 1 day.
I just hung out for the first couple of days, strolled around union square and did a bit of shopping on market st. Taco Tuesday was good, big fan of that invention.
Thursday night we decided to go out. We went to one of Roxy's friends apartment for some four loco's on her rooftop. Then we headed to a club that was supposed to be good that night (according to Roxy). The cab dropped us off at some quiet little ghetto corner, and the club itself, well (without being racist) we didn't quite fit in. Leaving there in a hurry we went to another club back towards the city a bit. I'm not sure which was more worrying, the fact that we went to a gay night event, or the fact that it took us an hour or two, once we were in there, to realise. In any case, we had a good laugh about it and it was a pretty funny night.
On Friday we headed out to Berkeley's University of California. We had a late lunch and I got kitted up in Cal gear before we went to watch the mens water polo team take on Stanford, who are pretty big rivals. Cal got up in a close one. It was a great game but we just about got drowned in the rain!
The next day we headed back out to Berkeley for gameday (being gameday of the NFL) again Cal were hosting Stanford. We were thinking about going to the game but we ended up hitting a frat party instead, which turned out to be a great call. Not only because Cal frat parties are crazy, but Stanford thumped Cal in the football and the game was well and truly over by half time!
Sunday I did some more shopping on market street (like I'm made of money), then had an early dinner with Roxy and her friend Alexa, then hit the local cinema to catch the latest Harry Potter.
That was my week and 3rd time round in San Fran. It's a pretty awesome city with a small-town, trendy vibe.. I like it. Was also cool to get another solid taste of the college life. Thanks again Roxy for looking after me and putting a roof over my head.
I got back to LA tonight, just turned down a tempting limo ride for some mexican and a quiet night in. May be regrettable, but i have to rest up.. flying to Miami tomorrow!
To be continued..
