It's Tuesday night and we've had another great day with Peter, Tanya, Ellie and Sean, and Tanya's mum even joined us for a bit. After a leisurely morning, we took the ferry over to Russell to see New Zealand's original capital city. Well...it's really a village and it's changed dramatically from it's early whaling days and reputation as 'the hellhole of the Pacific'. Stories about lots of drinking & lawlessnes...use your imagination! Today it's a really nice vilage w/cafes & art galleries.
After that, Peter, Pat & I went over to Waitangi to see where the treaty between the English & the Maori was signed almost exactly 170 years ago. New Zealanders will celebrate Waitangi Day this weekend. I didn't realise how young this country is and how the two cultures are coming together, even today, is interesting.
The weather today has been very windy & a bit showery. Everyone is quite happy about the rain as it's been quite dry.
I'm so far behind on our blog. Apologies!! The challenge has been figuring out how to get pictures uploaded into this thing and to attach them to the right place/blog entry. I think I've got it figured out now so will work to get caught up.
All for now!
