This picture is basically the view we've had this morning from The Old Weighbridge Vineyard. It's lovely, especially at sunrise when we were got out to start pruning. Spent today driving the Great Ocean Road. There's so much more along this drive than I expected. In addition to the spectacular cliffs, windy roads and various rock formations, there are waterfall walks and other hikes. We went to Tower Ridge which is basically a dead volcanco and Victoria's oldest national park. While hiking there, we saw koalas in the treas, a mob of kangaroos, some emus and a variety of birds. Very cool!

We picked up a rental car yesterday and left Melbourne to explore the Great Ocean Road. It's been a beautiful drive and we've had good weather so far...the views have been stunning. Drove as far as Lorne and woke up this morning to the sound of kookaburras screaching in the forest behind our hotel. Left the city day after yesterday, and are staying at a B&B about 30 miles north of Melbourne. The train journey was short, about 40 minutes, and the landscape surprisingly flat. However, the house we're staying at is on top of a large hill, and off in the distance, we can see the Melbourne skyline...it's really beautiful especially at night. After a wonderful 4 months in New Zealand, we said good-bye. Left Christchurch on an early flight to Melbourne, Australia in the pouring rain. Kind of sad to leave, but we're ready for the next part of our adventure. Melbourne is a lovely city and we're so happy that we came here. Some of the buildings remind me of London, even though this is a relatively young city. On the other hand, the skyscrapers remind me of Chicago. Either way, it's a great place.....
