We ended Sunday night with a night out on kao San road when we finally found it after a dubious but free bus journey, abuse from a drunk tramp and many invites to ping pong shows. It's a crazy street rammed with people and selling all kinds of junk. Had a lovely evening with street food, a bucket of long island iced tea and an amazing Thai singer. All of which took the edge of the crazy tuk tuk back to the hostel!
Next day we braved the sky train and the metro which are so cheap and efficient! We checked into our new hotel and met the tour. Only a few people are doing the same thing as us but all seem lovely. Ended up having another night on kao San road but with lots less booze and an earlier night.
Bright and breezy we set off to the Cambodian border. Crazy busy and crazy heat. Wasn't as long as we'd been warned and we arrived at Siam reap about 4. Back out again at 5 after flooding the bathroom to visit a Cambodian charity school. I sat in on one of the classes and the highlight of my trip so far is watching them sing rhinestone cowboy in thick Cambodian accents. Amazing! We had a traditional dinner at the school then got tuk tuks of doom back to the hotel.... Tuk tuks on concrete are one thing...., on dirt tracks with pot holes is a whole different story!
Tomorrow is a 5 am start to see sunrise in Angkor wat. Very excited.
