It was a 5am call time for angkor wat. Met our tour guide for the day and made our way to see sun rise at the temple. It was an eerie experience being at the temple in the dark with hundreds of other tourists. You're never guaranteed to see the sun rise but we were lucky to see a bright red sun appear over the towers of the temple. Stood and took the same photo over and over again with the snap happy Japanese!
Back to the hotel for breakfast and then back to the temple four a tour around it. I don't think I've ever felt heat and humidity quite like it. We then went to the temple that was used in tomb raider, it has trees entwined with the stone of the temple. I didn't adopt any Cambodian orphans and then we finally stopped for lunch..., with a fan!
After lunch we went to a final temple with huge budda faces carved into the rock. It was probably the most attractive of the three.
The second to last activity of the day was a trip to a floating village. It was a huge area of water with floating buildings as far as you can see. The worst poverty and desperation we have seen so far. People would pull their boats up next to ours and throw their very small children on holding pythons! Begging for 1 dollar to take a photo. I can guarantee every Cambodian knows how to say " lady, 1 dollar".
We were desperate for a shower but it was off for a buffet dinner and Cambodian dancing. I'm sure it was lovely but we were too exhausted to appreciate it. Jenn and I went to bed whilst everyone else went out dancing.
It's now the next day and we're on a 6 hour bus ride to the capital and I'm very smug whilst everyone else is suffering with their sick bags!
