Today we went on a boat trip around some islands. Who knew Cambodia could have such gorgeous beaches?! Had major fears of seasickness but all was fine. Jumped in the sea for snorkelling, well the others did and I bobbed about and pretended the fish weren't there. Had a great moment climbing on the boat when I fell off and into the sea! On our first day in phnom penh, the capital of Cambodia we went to see the sights of the pol pot regime. First was the genocide museum which was set in a Khmer rouge prison which actually used to be a school. It was pretty horrific. Had another marathon bus journey to this seaside town. We were staying in beachy bungalows, sounds nice but a bit rough in reality. All took advantage of western food in the hotel, the first time we've had the chance! It's quite a hippy town but nice to be able to walk around freely. It was a 5am call time for angkor wat. Met our tour guide for the day and made our way to see sun rise at the temple. It was an eerie experience being at the temple in the dark with hundreds of other tourists. You're never guaranteed to see the sun rise but we were lucky to see a bright red sun appear over the towers of the temple. We ended Sunday night with a night out on kao San road when we finally found it after a dubious but free bus journey, abuse from a drunk tramp and many invites to ping pong shows. It's a crazy street rammed with people and selling all kinds of junk. Had a lovely evening with street food, a bucket of long island iced tea and an amazing Thai singer.
