Two posts in two days, aren't you guys lucky??
I arrived safely in Tanga, but have a real problem as although I can view my pictures on my camera, when I try and link it to a computer it comes up with a virus message. Very worried as it has all my safari photos, but am going to leave it until I get home, as I can see all the pics fine, and I'm just hoping Josh or someone can fix it. In the mean time I have plenty of other memory cards to be using.
Thank you to everyone who is posting on my wall, it takes the homesickness away a bit when I hear from you all. I had an interesting bus ride.. it took 8 hours!! And I was sat in the sun the whole time, I nearly melted. My tan isn't going nearly as well as I would hope, due to the layers and constant sun cream applications.
I had a great first day. It's the Zanzibar Independance day, so the boys weren't at school and I met them for the first time. They have been fairly quiet around me, although they have joined in some games and definitely had a joke I couldn't understand at dinner. There are just the 2 boys here at the moment. It's very small. The idea is that you get a group of about 8 children and they live as a family unit. It's sponsored by a fairly rich arab man I believe. The kids are great, but they have very sad stories and it left me quite upset. We had a good time playing with the bubbles and their bike, and we went swimming.
From now on, my role will be very informal, getting up each day to eat with them then having the day free until after school when I play games, help with homework, improve their english and generally be around (just for the little things like properly using a knife and fork and not standing on the table).
I'm having a great time, and I'm very sorry the photos won't load. I miss you all very much. Oh and the high here now is 38, sorry you're all stuck in the below zero, but at least some of you got snow!
