Lovewells vs The World
Then we were back on a plane for the next leg to Houston, Texas. A bit longer this time, just managed to squeeze in a movie (with a bit of fast forwarding!). The staff on Delta were really friendly, although they did make us hold on to our water bottles for take off and landing, which was a bit odd. We were hit by a wave of heat when we exited the terminal...back to 34°c but humid this time. Thankfully we had a great shuttle with air conditioning. There is no public transport in Houston, which is bizarre for such a huge, sprawling city. Our driver gave us a tour on the way to our hotel, and we got to see the big buildings of Downtown Houston, the numerous sports stadiums, and sites of some famous battles. We couldn't miss the oil refinery, which stretches as far as the eye can see, in all directions. I've never seen anything like it. We are staying in Kemah, next to the Boardwalk, beside the sea. Our room has been upgraded, so each kid has not only their own bed, but also their own room. There is a lovely big kitchen, but it is a bit ironic because there is nowhere to buy fresh food around here. Not to worry, only 2 sleeps until home! In the meantime, we are great full for the pool as by 9pm it had only cooled to 29°c!
