Hello again!
I arrived in Mackay this afternoon - left Home Hill at 7.30 am and arrived at 1.30pm this afternoon. There was a bit of a delay because an old man on the bus had some sort of seizure and had to be taken to hospital (no not by the bus, by ambulance!) Felt bad though, I thought he was just asleep and making strange noises, but it turned out he was having some sort of problem - I was sat across the aisle from him.
Anyway! I'm here now, and there is nowt to do! I ended up staying with Bugz for an extra couple of days because every hostel I tried to book in to for Tues night was fully booked and there were no vacancies for most of them until Friday! One of the hostels I spoke to gave me the number of the place I am now stayting in. Its above a pub, and is very basic but its only 20 bucks a night and am only staying here for one so it'll do!
There is nothing to do here though, I've been here for about 2 hours and I'm bored already! Its an old mining town, well it still is a mining town, and I've had about 3 people stop and chat to me cos they don't get tourists here! I've got a day trip tomorrow into the rainfirst lovely lovely, hopefully see a platypus! Haha, this tour is recommended in both of my guidebooks so should be ok.
Then I get the coach to Agnes Water/Town of 1770 (I think it's the same town but for some reason it has two names!) at 8pm tomorrow night and arrive there at 2am. Have a hostel and shuttle to the hostel sorted, and will prob stay there for the weekend. The hostel organises loads of activities, theres some good diving round there (its the bottom of the great barrier reef) and there's an island called Lady Musgrave that;s supposed to be nice. But I'll see when I get there!
For now, I have no idea what I'm gonna do! It's only half 3 and I have nowt to do! There's no beach (there s a river), not a lot of anything else, and the hostel/pub is a bit of a ghost town too!
Still trying to load the last of my Whitsundays picutres on to Facebook, but the CD keeps getyting itself confused! Theres loads of good photos on there that the crew on the boat took and I wanna get em on for all to see! haha!
Bye now!
Ooo and I forgot to say that apparently there are more camels in Australia than there are in the Middle East, and the other day on the way to Airlie from Bugz's the first time, I saw 3 camels! I didn't see em today though, but I did a bit of the same journey again so it reminded me!x
