HEY ALL... At Uluru at the moment, but I'll do a blog about my recent travels when I get to Alice Springs, internet here is pricey and I have a really bad cold and want to dive into bed - even though it's only like 8pm. I did the blog entry (belooowww) a few days ago, but the site was down and I couldn't upload it. I've been outback sleeping in a tent (hence the cold) for the last 4 or 5 days (I've lost count) so haven't had chance to put it up! I'll be back later!
04/06/09...;
Hello everybody!
I am currently very excitable! I am back on the roaaad agaaaaainnnn! (That is me singing).
Welllll, I'm in Adelaide at the moment and I wanted to update my blog with the events of the last few days but for some annoying reason the website is down and I cannot update... SO I am saving this to my emails to put up when the site is working again, but I may forget, so God knows how long it'll be before anyone reads this!
Had my last shift at work on Saturday. Was sooooo happy to finish! But a bit sad too - met some wicked people there and did have a good time, just not a fan of the getting cold when I have no clothes to wear! Managed to wangle a free (VERY strong) Long Island Iced Tea, and few other free drinks - including some cheeky tequilas, (why oh WHY) - and rolled in to bed at about 6am. Woke up still drunk, and it went steadily down hill from there until I eventually came alive at about 7pm!
On Monday, Sarah and I did the Neighbours tour. Got to see the sets and the street, take laods of random photos and watch classic Neighbours re-runs. Also got to meet a star of the show, but I didn't know who he was. He's only been in Neighbours for the last couple of months (as Elle's new boyfriend.... and I haven't watched it here!), but apparently he was in it like 16 years ago and he was in Heartbreak High! But I still didn't know who he was.
Monday night, we did the legendary neighbours trivia night! A night of quizzes, fun, drunkeness and Neighbours stars! it was $40 to get in which was a bit steep, but worth it! Was a good night! Went with Sarah and Suzanna from work, one of Sarah's mates and then we recruited a couple of randoms too! AND, we then won $250 in the trivia quiz! (Split between 6 wasn't very much, but at least it paid for the expensive ticket!). There was Stingray there (and Suzanna kept stealing his drinks and stalking him, nearly getting herself chucked out, haha), Elle and Paul Robinson, which is good cos twas all people I knew from the very brief time I used to be forced to sit through neighbours at uni! Hehehe! I loved Paul, we chatted! Stingray was a love too, but Elle was a bit s***. Haha, she is very pretty but she obviously loved herself and wouldn't chat! Watched Paul's band perform (I can't remember his real name oops!). Good night all in all!
SOOOO. Now here I am in Adelaide! Flight took about 1hour 20, landed here at 9.20 on Wednes 4th. Adelaide are half an hour behind Melbourne which seems a bit random if you ask me! No joke, there were about 10 people in my airport terminal - a tiny terminal cos it was a little budget airline - with surgical masks on. And, no offence meant or anything, but they were white! They were Aussies! I saw a fair few asians and air hostesses wandering round with them on, but I got a bit of a shock! Crazy people. Unless they have swine flu, in which case they can keep their crazy masks on!
I have very little money, so trying to get up to Darwin ASAP for the cheapest. I can't remember if I said about trying to get a relocation deal from Adelaide to Alice Springs, then from Alice to Darwin? (Basically, the companies sometimes need their vehicles moved between depots when people book them, so people like me - poor scrounging b******s - can drive them, for FREE - or a small fee - between depots on certain dates).
NOW, I managed to bag one from Alice Springs to Darwin... which leaves at the moment on the 17th to arrive on the 20th, but I can change that if I want, the dates are fairly flexible. It's a camper van which costs $20 a day, and I have to pay for fuel on top of that. Which is a bit rubbish as the deals go - they're usually $1 a day and fuel is included, but it's one of the smaller companies and it's a pretty good vehicle - like the third one up - so I can't complain!
I met a girl yesterday from Canada, whos very nice, and we said we would travel together to Darwin and she could share costs on my camper with me! But, I then managed to meet to girls leaving TODAY (Thurs 4th - the day after I arrived!) with 1 seat in their car, a tent for me to share and split fuel between three. So I have taken that. Just waiting for them to pick me up! They're in Woolies at the mo getting food, then they're off to buy us like a radio/walky-talky device thingy incase we break down or have any other problems as there is no phone service out there.
I felt a bit bad on Canada girl cos she was really nice, but I still said she could share my camper thing if she manages to get up to Darwin, so I'm still doing her a favour!
Leaving Adelaide after 1 day and a bit wandering round. There's not a lot here, at all. It was a really nice day yesterday though, especially after I left Melbourne and it was raining, grey and freezing. Here yesterday it was warm and perfect blue skies! Today it's 13 degrees again though, grr. Went and had a quick wander around a couple of (free) museums yesterday, walked around the botanical gardens and down by the River Torrens and walked around the Adelaide Oval. Tried to go to the Don Bradman Collection this morning (Dad!), but they've moved it and it was a bit of a trek to get to, and as I've had to hang around for these girls to pick me up, no time!
Sarah and Vera! I think Vera is German, but I dunno what Sarah is as I've only spoken to Vera! German or Swedish or something, that's what they all are!
ANYWAY! I'm off now. I won't have phone service for a while I shouldn't think. And God knows when I'll next get on a computer! But hopefully I'll be warm when you hear from me next! Ta ta for now!
Tara tara, tara, trtrtrtraa bye bye byeeee (that's what you say Dad when you hang up the phone - did you realise that!?) xx
