Sunday we attempted to make coffee for 4 with a single espresso cup Italian coffee maker. Needless to say that took a fair amount of time. Eventually, we got organized to go down to the center of town.
For those unfamiliar with Positano, it is a town built into the hills. It has 1-2 main roads for cars, buses, trucks and scooters which only accommodate one vehicle at a time. There is a maze of stairs for pedestrians to use to avoid getting run over by the many cars, buses, trucks or scooters.
We began our trek in search of the stairways leading to the beach. We hit several dead ends until Cher asked an older Italian man for help. We managed to find our way to Cafe Positano for an early lunch with Bloody Marys and a MaiTai. Then we joined the masses for a crowded cruise through Positano. We eventually found our way to the beach and had lunch at one of the many restaurants along the main drag.
Cher saw a terraced restaurant that looked inviting so we headed there for a drink. About a thousand stairs later we did not get to that restaurant but found a place close enough called Il Capitano and enjoyed mussels and wine. Then we headed back to our apartment. In total we did 3,500 steps, although it felt like 35,000!
We went to dinner at Rivotrovo about 2 miles farther uphill from us. Thankfully they had a shuttle service so no more stairs. Dinner was delicious and the views were fantastic. We're off to Capri (pronounced KAH-pree) tomorrow by boat. We'll see how that goes.
