Sheep, sand,sea and sun!
The weekend was quiet with a village bbq on the saturday, sunday was one of those nice days, a quiet morning, then a lovely afternoon. We went a walk to the mellenium track witch follows the larg taieri river to the sea, the track winds its way through the dense vegetation new zealanderss call the bush, view of the river every so often as you walk through the sights and sounds of the deep forested hills. The views from the highest point of the track make it worth the long walk, the meandering river making its way to the coast. A hot sunny day, cooler when amoungst the trees, the jungle appearance of vegetation made for an interesting walk. As the track wound its way down you could smell the sea before you could sea it. The changes in types of plants were interesting to sea, then making it out to the car park, a 3 hour walk completed by a drive 5minutes down the round to the sea, and ofocurse theres nothing like a walk in the sea and sand after a long walk....temptation to great although beginning to rain i couldnt help jumping afew waves and being knocked down and completely soaked! :), 7pm time to head back to the house!!
Today headed to the farm, vet was coming to check the rams and take some blood tests, then the lambs to be crutched (not cruksed as i was spelling it in the last blog), i was sorting the wool as it was coming off, the dags witch is no use and then the better bits getting bagged. The last 3 sheep were left in the pen so id watched it enough times, now to have a go, when you just get thrown in at the deep end it makes you learn! Its not easy work and we were only crutching, i only had three to do, when shearers face hundreds of sheep a day i take my hat of to them!!!
All done bagged the wool, and tidied up and headed back on the road, sun came out late afternoon and so took the road to kaka point......swim in the sea? Oh yes!!! sand, the sun in the back ground slowly begining to set at 7pm, and some waves to jump and dive into; smileing once again!:)! Fish and chips on the drive home, as the sun fully set over the hills.
