Again, I am the first one up to a beautiful morning after a cool night of 24 degrees! I may melt before I come home. There is a beautiful breeze on the deck where I am enjoying my coffee and watching mama & papa cenzontle feed the babies.
Claudia made breakfast (eggs a la Claudia - a delicious concoction of potatoes, onions, and eggs topped off with homemade green sauce which is blended avocado, green tomatoes, and habanero pepper) and we feasted (yes again) on that and refried beans and homemade pineapple juice. After some discussion we decided that our adventure today would be to go to Playa del Carmen, a beach town on the coast south of here, to explore - shop, swim, walk, eat, drink and be merry. We all went to get our stuff together and Paul got a bout of Montezumas revenge so we had to delay our trip for another day. We decided to have a pool day but first had to pick up some supplies. The wine here seems to evaporate!
So we left Paul on the couch with a couple of Immodiums and went to pick up some more supplies. Claudia took us to a chedraui (pronounced chedwaree), a grocery store a couple of minutes from here. I never thought I could get so excited about a grocery store. This place is like the Harrods of all grocery stores. It has everything including a wine vending machine!
After shopping, our private tour guide, Claudia, took us for a drive to the other end of the hotel zone. The hotel zone is about 26 km's long. The condo is at km 6. We stopped to look at Playa Delfines or Dolphin Beach (named for the dolphins that frolic in the water in the early morning). This beach is one where the locals go. The colour of the water is just amazing. This beach is not in the bay but at the point which is open to the ocean and, therefore, has huge waves.
We got back to the condo and went right to the pool with a cool one. The sun here is very strong and Vic got a touch burnt as he refuses to wear any suntan lotion. Michele, Cameron and the 3 kids came by and I was the crocodile that chased the kids around the pool nipping at their toes. I must say I was a little sore after from all the activity. Paul seemed to recover sufficiently to join us for a dip as well. We were happy about that.
Vic decided to make Paul & Claudia some martini's and so we returned to the condo to wind down and prepare dinner. Claudia did not like the martini - she was expecting something like an appletini or cosmo - so Paul & Vic had to share hers. It was embarrassing watching 2 men fight over a martini!
We had ordered a conch salad from a Japanese place when we went to the chedraui and had it as an appetizer before preparing dinner. But we were enjoying the deck so decided to order pizza instead of cooking. So we just sat on the deck and enjoyed each other's company until bedtime.

Wendy How many days before you can claim "squatters rights"? I would look into that if I were you, seems as though you have slipped into paradise. Love the posts and pictures.
