BLOODY BIG SWIM AND THE WILKINS ARRIVAL
On 30th Jan Ben's brother, Jeremy, was in an event called the Bloody Big Swim meaning he had to swim 11.2KM across the bay in Mornington along with nearly 200 others. Having run quite long distances before but never having swam any distance we had so much respect for what he had taken on so as eager supporters we thought it only right to get up early and to give ourselves the stressful job of sitting on the boat in the sun eating snacks and drinking ice cold DCs, well someone had to.
Jeremy set off with his kayak support and the trusty crew in the boat (us) and swam the race in an amazing time of 2h 45mins. It was incredible to think he swam all that way, stopping briefly only twice for a drink. We docked the boat and got to the finish just in time to see the poor bloke have to finish swimming and then run across the line. Jeremy came an awesome 10th out of all solo swimmers. He was a little grey at first but once he got the colour back in his face he was over the moon with his time.
That evening Amy and Ben went to collect Mandy, Ron, Jacob and William from the airport whilst Lizzy and I stayed at home and had a few refreshing beverages awaiting their arrival. It was so great to see them all and we were looking forward to the month ahead.
