Hello everyone!
This trip started off with a bit of a disaster, to say the least! We got a bus to Iguacu from Florianopolis, and ended up in Paraguay instead of Argentina! After thinking that the bus was just running a bit late, we then realised that we had gone too far on the bus and had some driver telling us to get off and get our stamps on a main, busy road in Paraguay! It was pretty scary at the time, seeing as we hardly know any Spanish and noone on the coach knew English which was pretty bad! We got off the coach and had no idea what to do....but luckily we found a woman who spoke a little English so could translate to the driver that we needed to go back to Argentina! He told us to go over the road and get a minibus there but then we apparently misunderstood so this man comes running over the road to tell us to get back on the original coach because he was going to take us to a bus terminal where we could get another bus to Argentina....loooooong! They were all really nice though, but it was such a stressful little morning! And it didn´t help the situation to have a man trying to sell you sunglasses!! We finally got to our hostel anyway after a 5 hour delay but oh well....it´s all part of the fun I suppose!! Haha, and now we can tick off another country in South America!!
When we got to our hostel, it was so good to be there! Not only because of what had happened, but because it had a pool and it was so sunny! On the first day we just lazed around and sunbathed by the pool, seeing as we´d had a bloody eventful journey! The second day we headed to the Brazilian side of the falls, as we were told it wasn´t as good as the Argentinian side and also, some people said it wasn´t really that good. We got a transfer from the hostel which made it easier getting stamps etc, but when we got there it was so good! We couldnt believe that people had said it wasnt good! You get more of a panoramic view of the falls from the Brazilian side, and literally get so close that you get sprays off the falls! Was so amazing! And as per usual, the photos don´t do it justice at all!! That night, we met two lads from the UK, who thought it was weird we dont normally spend money doing shots...so it was their aim to give us about a million different shots, which is never good when you have to get up to go and see the falls the next morning!! Luckily, Lissie doesnt get hangovers (God loves her!) but Alex gets mighty ones...so the day after was an experience for her!
The Argentinian side of the falls was literally the best thing we´ve ever seen - as cheesy as that sounds, it was! Lissie stupidly forgot her camera, so Lexy had to do some mighty picture taking that day! You could spend all day there, whereas at the Brazilian side, you could probably walk around and take everything in within an hour, but the Argie side, we spent about 7 hours there! We walked around and did the trails of the falls, and then decided to get a boat ride, which goes under two of the waterfalls. It was so good and how many people can actually say they´ve had a shower underneath the Iguacu falls!!? Crazy! Lissie bought a video of the trip, seeing as the man literally spent most of the time videoing us (well, at least it felt like that!) so it´ll be good to have a look at it when we get back home! We had such crazy people on our boat too, shouting non-stop, so that should be a fun little video!!
After doing the upper and lower trails and the boat ride, we decided to take the train to the Devil´s Throat, which is the biggest waterfall in the world! (We think it is anyway!) Out of every touristy thing we´ve done, that definitely is our favourite of all! You stand so close at the top of the waterfall, and get so drenched! We also saw so many rainbows, which was the prettiest thing ever! :)
We also found a new amazing snack, which consisted of stuffing chocolate bars in bread rolls...nearly as amazing as the falls! Haha.
Even though this trip started off a bit dodge, it was seriously one of the best experiences out here that we´ll never forget! Please try not to be sick at the cheesiest of this blog!
Missing everyone lots!
