Sunday 7th February.
I was woken up at 7:30am by my roomies who had gone to get free pancakes at 7am from the hostel. Kirsty told me they weren't very good though so I don't think I missed anything. Emilio was saying he was literally going to wake me up to go with them, but Kirsty quickly warned him not to wake me up haha. Me and Kirsty checked out then went and grabbed breakfast at a cafe round the corner which was really busy. Then we took a walk to the beach. We noticed not many people were on it but we were in a deep conversation. We sat down still in our conversation and then got a sandstorm fly across us, the sand felt like mini pieces of glass cutting us. We were both screaming but tried to laugh it off, until it happened again, and Kirsty jumped up and shouted she was out of there. We grabbed our stuff and as fast as we turned up, we had left again. As we came stumbling off the beach we bumped in to Adam, Christina and Olivia from our room who were just coming down. We warned them about the sand and we went to the pool to sunbathe. It wasn't long before Olivia turned up and said she quit the beach because of the sand too. We got talking to a couple of girls at the pool before we then had to grab our stuff and head across the road for the greyhound bus to take us to Townsville/1770. It was meant to take six hours but we broke down so it was more like 8/9 hours. It wasn't fun sat at the side of the road in temperatures hitting mid thirties, and no breeze, or snacks, but we just got on with it and spoke to others on the bus. When we got to a services we bumped in to Julia from Fraser Island who was waiting for the Greyhound to Bundaberg, but whilst we were waiting to get going again she came to McDonalds with us. We all got back on the bus and Me and Kirsty finally got to 1770 about 22:30 where the lady who runs the hostel turned up in a mini bus to pick a group of us up. She was really nice and drove us all back to Southern Cross Hostel. It was like a nature reserve and each wooden cabin was named after a country. We were staying in Sweden and got straight in to the room as it was late. There were two other girls in there and they had already claimed the bottom bunks, so I was back to my top bunk fear. There was a spider web next to the bed and bugs everywhere outside the room, so I was freaking out in my head and barely slept.
