Lisa's Big Adventure
Cardiff
We caught a train from Salisbury to Cardiff and arrived in Cardiff after lunch. Once again, our first stop was our hostel to dump our bags before we walked over into the main part of town. Our first thought was that there was nothing open in Cardiff and we blamed it on the fact that it was Easter Sunday. I have since found out that that's just the way Cardiff is.
The castle, however, was open and we managed to get on the last tour of the day. I was excited about this as it was going to be my first castle. The guided tour was excellent and took us through various rooms of the castle, telling us the history and pointing out the decoration of it. Cardiff Castle is very ornate and just beautiful inside. The detail in the ceilings and the prints on the walls just amazed me. I'd hate to think how much it was all worth. By the time we'd got through the castle, it was dark so we wandered back to the hostel, stopping off to get some fantastic curry on the way.
Monday morning we were out of the hostel relatively early and found to our dismay that Cardiff wasn't open. The Millennium stadium was closed and the shops were closed also. When it started to rain we didn't know what to do, so ventured in to the only open thing - the movies - where we sat through "Johnny English", laughing at Rowan Atkinson and noticing all the places in London we'd been to.
We completed our time in Cardiff with lunch in a pub and a few drinks before catching the bus back to London in the afternoon.
I wouldn't come back to Cardiff as I couldn't really see much else to do there but I did enjoy the time I spent there.
