Lisa's Big Adventure
Salisbury and Stonehenge
Deciding that since we were so close to Stonehenge, it would crazy not to go and see it, we boarded a bus for Salisbury, the closest town. The only thing of note in Salisbury is a great big cathedral which we passed by but didn't even venture in to. Lunch was our priority and then finding a place to stay for the night. With this sorted, we got back on the bus and headed out to Stonehenge.
I wasn't sure what to expect with Stonehenge. Already I'd heard from different people that it was awesome and others said it was just a pile of stones. I have to admit that I did put it in the awesome category, although we didn't go in. Due to needing to get the last bus back to Salisbury, we only had about 25 minutes and we weren't prepared to pay to go beyond the fence for such a short time. So we got some photos through the fence and marvelled at the stones without paying a fee. Unfortunately, it was absolutely freezing out there and we were concerned with trying to not freeze to the ground and so didn't get a chance to just stand there and go "wow". We said it instead as we jumped about, trying to keep feeling in our bones. I have a great photo I took there of the three of us standing outside the fence, smiling bravely as our hair was blown everywhere and we tried to ignore the cold. It completely captures the moment I think.
We returned to Salisbury and didn't really explore any more of the town, other than a pub for dinner and a nightclub afterwards. I do have to say that I have never seen so many slappers in my life. And what on earth were those girls thinking braving it in a mini skirt, singlet and thigh high boots when it was about 6 degrees!
